3-2-1 Turn the Page

3-2-1… Jumanji!! Oh, wait was that just me?

As we turn the page from this awful year, I’m writing this blog to take stock. Stock on the things I’ve learned. The goals I want to set for the future. And what I’m thankful for.

2020 was the worst year in living memory for so many reasons, but personally, it has also been a year of growth, finding my voice, and reprioritizing what really should matter.

This year has brought me a lot. It’s brought me confidence in myself and the things I stand for. It brought me a platform to use my voice. It brought me a new kitten.

And it showed me that out of some of the darkest times some pretty amazing things can be found.

Between BLM marches, social reform, women demanding to be a part and to lead the conversation. This year should be remembered for more than the negatives. 2020 should be remembered as the year a generation stood up for what they believed in and wouldn’t let a global pandemic stand in the way.

I do not pretend to be an expert and I recognize I have privileges that others do not, but that is why I want to keep learning and using the P5 Mentality platform to further these conversations (and I think I speak for Scott too).

I’m just again and again reminded why sports are important. Because during a year that sports didn’t happen like normal, we could still rally behind the stories and the ways we are all making a positive impact on this crazy world.

So, I’ll end this by saying thank you. Thank you for making it through this year. Thank you for never letting your resources limit what you can do. Thank you for battling through a worldwide pandemic to elevate student-athletes voices and stories. Thank you for being a part of the #P5M community. Thank you for wearing a mask. Just THANK YOU!!
